April 20, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – The Emergency Lawyers organization reported on Monday that three brothers have been detained and forcibly disappeared by both the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
A human rights organization mentioned that these actions indicate a growing trend of serious breaches against non-combatants. It pointed out the absence of responsibility and the breakdown of legal protections throughout the continuous conflict.
As per the statement, the three brothers—Abdel Rahman, Mohammed, and Badri Ibrahim Badri—were held without proper cause in various locations across the country.
Abdel Rahman Ibrahim was taken into custody by military intelligence on May 20 at his residence in Omdurman. He was secretly taken to a religious location before being transferred to Omdurman and Soba prisons, accused of working with the RSF. He was freed after spending 11 months in detention, suffering from poor physical and mental condition.
The RSF arrested the youngest brother, Mohammed Badri, on August 20, 2025, in Bara, North Kordofan. He was then moved to Nyala in South Darfur, where he is thought to be detained at Kober prison, with no official details regarding his condition.
The oldest brother, Badri Ibrahim, was also captured by the RSF on August 25 from North Kordofan. He was transferred to the Dagris detention facility in Nyala, where he is still missing against his will, with no transparency or respect for his dignity.
The group mentioned that the brothers’ family has faced financial blackmail and deception from people who provided misleading details about their whereabouts.
Emergency attorneys demanded the immediate and complete release of all individuals held without justification and the shutting down of unlawful detention facilities. They called on both conflicting sides to cease using imprisonment as a weapon in the conflict.
