May 4, 2026 (KHARTOUM) –At least three key areas within Khartoum State, such as the international airport, were hit by drone attacks on Monday.
The assault on key locations in the capital comes after an extraordinary increase in air attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) earlier this week. Unmanned aerial vehicles have lately targeted areas throughout White Nile, Gezira, North Kordofan, Khartoum, and Gedaref states.
Military officials informed Sudan Tribune that a long-range drone launched four missiles, with two striking the eastern part of Khartoum International Airport close to Obeid Khatim Street.
The missiles resulted in slight damage to an administrative structure connected to the airport. Officials evacuated airport employees and postponed a flight coming from Port Sudan, with the ministry complex located in the Al-Mujahedin area also being vacated.
Footage from social media depicted clouds of smoke emerging from the eastern part of the airport after the attacks.
Khartoum International Airport restarted its activities in October 2025 following comprehensive restoration work due to damage caused by conflict. Although maintenance has been carried out, the airport has repeatedly been targeted by drone attacks from the RSF, seeking to shut it down.
The airport has recently started welcoming international flights from Cairo, Jeddah, and Kuwait City at the close of last month.
