The wife of New York CityMayor Zohran Mamdani, who is recognized for her controversial anti-Israel stance, unexpectedly met MissIsrael inside a Manhattan cafe.
Rama Duwaji, 28, and beauty queen Melanie Shiraz, 27, met briefly on Sunday in the city, with Shiraz describing the interaction as a quick but stressful encounter.
In a message to herInstagrampage, Shiraz posted a photo of the two together along with a video of her speaking about their unexpected encounter.
She remarked: “So, who do you think it is”sat beside me at a café in New York, none other than Rama Duwaji, the wife of Zohran Mamdani.
The same Rama Duwaji, who recently shared deeply antisemitic, anti-Israel, and terrorist-supporting content, and later issued an apology.
As per Shiraz, Duwaji was eager to take a photo with her, but her demeanor shifted upon learning that she was Israeli.
Shiraz added, “Although the atmosphere was peaceful, the moment she learned I was Israeli, she refused to speak with me.”
A tale surfaced in theJewish Insideremphasizing Duwaji’s contributions and her presence on the site during March of this year.

As per the source, she appreciated a picture that honored the attack byHamasabout Israel in October of 2023.
The post, created by the left-wing group The Slow Factory, featured pictures of groups of individuals following the takeover of an IDF vehicle, with ‘FreePalestine‘ scrawled over it.
Another picture stated: “Shattering the barriers of apartheid and military rule,” along with the date.
The picture depicted a bulldozer utilized by the group to penetrate into Israel on the day when almost 1,200 individuals lost their lives.
When asked about the posts, Mamdani stated: “My wife is the love of my life, and she is also a private individual who has”did not hold any official role in my campaign or at City Hall.’
Captioning her post, Shiraz wrote: ‘Was I taken aback by the result? Not really. It’s simple to say sorry without genuinely altering one’s actions.’
It is simple to express disagreement with dehumanization in theory, yet much harder to put it into action.
She remained courteous all along. However, the change in her attitude was noticeable, as was her unwillingness to participate further.

She stated, “I engaged in the discussion with a willingness for an authentic, respectful dialogue. That openness was not met with the same attitude.”
And possibly, this is the more significant aspect: how frequently this gap emerges, and how commonplace it has become.
Lately, Duwaji expressed regret for her earlier social media comments during an interview with an art-related news platform.
She said: ‘A tabloid recently released old tweets I composed as a teenager, which made me feel considerable embarrassment upon seeing the language I used that was very damaging to others; being 15 doesn’t justify it.
I have read and watched many of the responses from others, and I recognize the pain I caused, and I am genuinely sorry.
The Daily Mail reached out to the mayor’s office for a response.
