Princess Diana‘s sibling has encouraged the new arrivalsBBCboss Matt Brittin to ‘lance the boil’ and break the ‘conspiracy of silence’ regarding theMartin Bashir scandal.
Earl Spencerrequested the company to designate an official historian and assign them the responsibility of examining all records connected to the deception employed by the unauthorized reporter to secure his notorious 1995 Panorama interview with Diana – as well as the BBC’s following concealment.

Bashir presented Earl Spencer with fake bank documents in an attempt to gain entry to Diana, and subsequently deceived her by spreading a series of falsehoods, including thatPrince WilliamThe watch had been tampered with to capture her discussions.
Earl Spencer addressed the controversy during the Althorp Literary Festival, which took place on his property in Northamptonshire, alongside investigative reporter Andy Webb, who authored a book detailing Bashir’s deceit and the BBC’s prolonged concealment.
He supported Webb’s efforts for the BBC to reappoint its official historian, a role that seems to have remained unfilled for over ten years.
The official written account of the BBC, spread over six volumes, is thought to conclude in 1987.
Webb worked to secure over 10,000 documents from the company, although more than 3,000 were blacked out, but the writer feels there is additional evidence that remains to be uncovered.

Earl Spencer stated on Saturday: ‘I support what Andy mentioned. I believe bringing the official historian back would be an excellent decision.’
I believe that, in fact, we should burst the boil and, over time, break the conspiracy of silence, finally brushing everything aside. And for the police, to take action on what is revealed.
He referred to Bashir as a “compulsive liar,” and stated, “Honestly, I wouldn’t even want to waste a minute on him.”
He called Bashir’s interview “the worst example of journalism I’ve ever witnessed” and stated there were “five individuals” holding high positions at the BBC, whom he alleged were responsible for covering up the scandal.
Meanwhile, Webb stated that William was one of the initial readers of his book, Dianarama, when it was released last year.
He stated, “It was made very clear to me that this is of great importance to Prince William, truly significant. He read nearly the first copy of the book as soon as it came off the press, and naturally, it would be important.”
The BBC stated that it had acknowledged the results of a 2021 investigation regarding the scandal and had issued a public apology for its role in the findings.
