Ten Labour MPs are prepared to switch allegiance to Zack Polanski’s party, even though it has had a lackluster showing in thelocal elections, say senior Green sources.

The plot would plunge Keir Starmerhis leadership plunging into more turmoil as he struggles to retain his position following Labour’s weak performance.

Backbench Labour Party members from the left wing have been engaging in “informal talks for months” regarding “collaboration” with the Greens, according to sources within the party.

“Nine or ten Labour MPs are very talkative and involved,” they added.

Members of parliament have grown more ‘nervous’ as backing slips towards the party’s Left, with insiders suggesting one might ‘lose control at any moment’.

The conspirators, many of whom were elected prior to 2024, were closely associated withJeremy Corbynwhen he was leader of the Labour party.

A number of high-ranking individuals from that time have recently joined the Greens.

Backbenchers, who were already considering switching parties, have been alarmed by Green Party successes in Labour’s traditional areas like Hackney, Lewisham, and Islington in London.

A Labour lower house member stated that some MPs were already ‘prepared for the outcome’ of losing their positions unless they switched parties.

When asked by the BBC how he would prevent becoming a “new version” of Mr. Corbyn, Mr. Polanski declined to criticize him, stating, “There were many things that [Mr.] Corbyn proposed for this country that I believe were genuinely positive. We have discussed wealth taxes and public ownership.”

A source from the Green Party stated: “Our doors are open to anyone who aligns with our principles, but ideally not those supporting Starmer’s administration.”

But as well as drawing policy guidance from Mr Corbyn, the Green Party has faced allegations of anti-Semitism that troubled Labour during his leadership.

Khalid Mahmood, a contender from Bradford, attended a memorial event honoring Iran’s slain top leader Ali Khamenei.

Labour MP Luke Akehurst stated: ‘The same political groups thatbrought Labour into a moral swamp of anti-Semitism during the Corbyn periodhave taken over the Green Party.

Several Green candidates succeeded even though they sparked debate throughout the election period.

Mohammed Suleman, who won a seat in Newcastle, received a fine of £8,507 for unlawfully disposing of construction debris in 2024, whereas Zoe Garbett, the newly elected mayor of Hackney, supported a vandalism incident targeting a statue of Winston Churchill.

A representative from the Green Party stated, “We maintain regular communication with MPs from different parties and plan to keep doing so.”
