Chancellor Rachel Reeveshad a fierce argument with younger sister and colleagueLabourMinister Ellie to prevent her from voting to allowAndy Burnhamreturn to Westminster, according to sources who spoke last night.

The clash—taking place at Ellie’s house during her son’s birthday celebration—became so intense that Rachel finally left, according to The Mail on Sunday.

The “sisters at war” allegations surfaced as increasing pressure was placed on Ellie Reeves and other Labour Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) members this weekend to lift their opposition to the Manchester mayor running for a parliamentary seat and returning to Westminster – possibly challenging SirKeir Starmer.

During Mr. Burnham’s earlier effort in January, Ellie—serving as Solicitor General—supported Sir Keir in casting a vote against the self-proclaimed ‘King of the North,’ thereby stopping him from contesting the Gorton and Denton by-election.

Nevertheless, sources revealed to this newspaper that Ellie did so only after Number 10 became aware that she intended to support allowing the Manchester mayor to run as an MP.

In a frantic response, Downing StreetIt was claimed that she called Rachel Reeves, who is 47 and two years older than Ellie, to pressure her younger sister and ‘resolve the issue’—not realizing that at that exact moment, the Chancellor was at her sister’s home for her son’s birthday celebration.

To enhance the tension, the siblings were also apparently engaged in the The Traitors board game – inspired by the popular reality TV series centered around deception, betrayal, and trickery.

Rachel’s involvement led to a heated argument with Ellie, who was reportedly very angry that No 10 did not contact her directly to try and convince her to reconsider her decision.

One source indicated that the event also “struck a sensitive chord” because Ellie believes Rachel is regarded as the “favored child” in the family.

Following heated arguments, the Chancellor is reported to have walked away and departed in her official vehicle without her footwear.

Nevertheless, Labour representatives stated last night that she did not leave her shoes behind.

Without the backing of the NEC, Mr. Burnham is ineligible to run for a parliamentary position. However, last night there were indications that Ellie might use her vote to support Mr. Burnham this time.

And despite reports that Sir Keir will continue to oppose him, he is reportedly prepared to step down as mayor to avoid the party’s opposition.

Reports from the governing committee also indicated that Mr. Burnham might secure the nomination if he succeeded in gaining the support of the unions.

They hold a significant role in decision-making. Unite leader Sharon Graham made an unusual appeal on Saturday for Sir Keir to step down, stating: ‘It’s change or die. Now or never.’

A representative from the Labour Party stated, “Rachel and Ellie communicate frequently, and this is not an accurate depiction of a private family gathering.”
