A man in his 40s received a prison sentence for trafficking around 6,300 fake high-end products valued at 9 billion South Korean won within the country.

The Criminal Division 4 of the Busan District Court (Presiding Judge Byun Seong-hwan) announced on the 10th that it imposed a two-year and five-month prison sentence along with a fine of 10 million South Korean won on Mr. A, in his 40s, for offenses including violations of trademark laws, and also mandated the seizure of 31.5 million South Korean won.

Mr. A is being charged with distributing 6,300 fake items, such as bags and shoes featuring fake Prada and Louis Vuitton logos, valued at around 9 billion South Korean won, through Naver Band and KakaoTalk from September 2023 to May 2025.

In July 2025, Mr. A kept 1,981 fake high-end fragrances valued at 6 billion South Korean won in a storage facility and vehicles in Daegu Seo-gu for a month. Throughout this time, he also provided misleading documents to the Daegu Customs Office concerning tax payers when importing bags from China.

Presiding Judge Byun outlined the reasoning behind the punishment: “The responsibility is not minor, given the length of the offense, the quantity of trademark violations, and the regularity of the illegal activities. The fact that he actively assisted the investigation was considered during the sentencing.”
