Before the June 3 local elections, authorities stated on the 10th that they plan to intensify efforts against election-related offenses, including the dissemination of misleading information, defamation campaigns, and incidents of electoral violence.

The **National Police Agency National Office of Investigation** will upgrade its election-related crime response system from the current level 2 to the highest level 3 beginning on the 14th, which marks the first day of candidate registration for the local elections. As a result, investigation teams at every police station will work together with security and local police units (outposts) to address election crimes in a timely manner.

Law enforcement intends to thoroughly examine three significant election violations that threaten democratic processes, guided by a “zero-tolerance policy”: dissemination of black propaganda, such as the circulation of false or misleading information, offering money or incentives to voters, and the participation of public officials in electoral activities.

Furthermore, to combat the spread of misinformation through artificial intelligence (AI) tools, the police will implement an **‘AI-altered content analysis response system’**. In addition to checking the validity of false news, they will monitor the entire process from content generation to distribution in order to establish criminal liability.

The **National Police Agency National Office of Investigation** established 2,096 specialized election crime investigation teams across the country on February 3 and has maintained a 24-hour election crime investigation command center since March 18. A representative from the **National Police Agency National Office of Investigation** stated, “We encourage the public to actively report and share information about election-related crimes to create a fair and equitable electoral environment.”
