Rafiu Ajakaye, who previously served as the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, has urged unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency after winning the party’s primary election.
Ajakaye, who previously served as a political editor for Daily Independent, thanked party leaders and followers for what he called their “unwavering support” throughout the primary event that took place on Saturday.
In a statement released following the event, the APC candidate stated that the win was due to party members throughout the constituency who strongly supported his ambitions.
“I extend my deep appreciation to the leaders and members of our esteemed party, the APC, throughout the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Constituency for your backing and loyalty, which led to our success in the primaries on Saturday,” he stated.
The Media Guru also urged party supporters to stay united as the next stage of the election approaches, cautioning against splits following the primary elections.
“Let’s stay united for the rest of this journey,” Ajakaye said, reassuring supporters about inclusive leadership and ongoing interaction with all stakeholders in the area.
The rise of Ajakaye signifies a major shift from journalism to direct political involvement, after years of reporting on Nigeria’s political scene before running for elected position.
His followers have later characterized the APC primary result as an indication of increasing local trust in his leadership across the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun region.
