The head of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee for the party in Ekiti State, Asipa Wasiu, has declared the outcomes of the National Assembly primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday.
The chairperson of the Committee also stated that the Ekiti North Federal Constituency I, which includes Oye and Ikole Local Government Areas, was declared inconclusive due to pockets of unrest observed in certain polling stations.
He revealed that there were regions experiencing difficulties in certain polling areas, noting that the issue would be addressed by the National Working Committee (NWC).
As per his statement, NWC would decide whether to form a new committee to finalize the process or instruct the existing committee to revert.
He mentioned that the committee would stay within its limits, particularly because the party’s Senate primaries were set for Monday.
Ashipa called on party members and interested parties in Oye and Ikole to wait for additional instructions from the APC National Working Committee concerning the conclusion of the primary process in the constituency.
As everyone is aware, Ekiti has six federal constituencies. However, the matter concerning Ekiti North One, which includes Oye and Ikole, will be addressed by the party’s National Working Committee.
There were areas of difficulty in some of the votes from yesterday, and the procedure was not finalized. Because of this, I will not be releasing any outcomes for Oye and Ikole Federal Constituency.
There is no slot for Oye and Ikole in the schedule provided to us. The National Working Committee is responsible for making a decision on whether they will send another committee to finish the task or have us return.
Tomorrow belongs to the Senate. We don’t wish to go beyond our limits by performing actions that are not permitted.
But that is not included in our guidelines. Therefore, the people of Oye and Ikole should wait for the statement from the party’s National Working Committee.
Announcing the outcome, the current representative for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I, Steve Olusola Fatoba, won against his four rivals by securing 8,943 votes.
In the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Oladapo Karounwi received 6,573 votes, surpassing the current officeholder, Abiodun Omoleye, who obtained 2,096 votes.
Additionally, in Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, Okoro Toyin Zaccheaus received 9,798 votes, surpassing the current officeholder, Rufus Adeni Ojuawo, who obtained 1,842 votes.
