Aussie Motorsport star Oscar Piastrihas commented on reports that he could finalize a trade with the Red Bull iconMax Verstappen.
Piastri has been connected with a transfer to Red Bull, and Verstappen, to Piastri’s present team McLaren.
But the 25-year-old has recently dismissed those rumors in a press conference.
“this is new information for me, there have clearly been no discussions or anything,” piastri said to the media, before the canadian grand prix.
It’s nice, certainly, but there’s not much more to it, really.
I believe it hopefully demonstrates my value as a driver, which is a positive aspect, but I am very content with my current position.
Motorsport.com mentioned earlier this month that both Red Bull and McLaren were exploring a potential exchange between their drivers.
The Dutch driver has been connected with transfers to McLaren, Ferrari, and even stepping away from the sport entirely.
However, Piastri’s recent statements have essentially confirmed that he, at the very least, will not be leaving.
A 25-year-old driver from Melbourne is under contract with McLaren until the conclusion of 2028.
He has currently recorded nine victories with the team.
Piastri also had a significant part in the Woking-based team securing consecutive constructors’ championships.
All 22 Formula 1 drivers make a comeback this weekend.
Young Italian driver Kimi Antonelli is at the top of the World Drivers Championship, while Mercedes leads in the constructors’ title race.
