A notable 47 researchers from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad have been listed among the top 2% scientists globally for 2025, as per the most recent worldwide rankings developed by Stanford University and Elsevier.

Each year, the list includes more than 100,000 top researchers from around the globe in various fields, recognizing those whose academic contributions have made the greatest impact, as measured by important bibliometric metrics like citations, h-index, and their positions as authors.

The count of NUST researchers featured on this esteemed list has followed a continuous upward trajectory — increasing from 23 in 2022, to 31 in 2023, 43 in 2024, and now reaching 47 in 2025. The ongoing expansion highlights the university’s vibrant research environment and its dedication to promoting innovation and scholarly distinction.

Notably, 26 researchers from NUST have consistently remained in the global rankings over the years, showcasing their ongoing commitment to producing meaningful research.

In the QS World University Rankings for 2025-26, NUST is placed at 371st worldwide, 67th in Asia, and 6th in South Asia, reinforcing its status as Pakistan’s top educational institution.

The 2025 Stanford-Elsevier ranking features NUST academics from 15 different fields across 10 affiliated schools, covering areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, Materials Science, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Physics, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Design and Manufacturing, Humanities, Mathematics, and Fluid Mechanics.
