Prominent romantic comedy director Song Hyun-wook voiced his confusion regarding the scheduling conflict between his two productions: SBS’s *Woo Zu Mary Me* and KBS2’s *Walking On Thin Ice*, which are set to air at comparable times.

On the afternoon of the 10th, a showcase for *Woo Zu Mary Me* took place at SBS Hall in Mok-dong, Seoul, with participation from director Song Hyun-wook, actors Choi Woo-sik, Jung So-min, Bae Na-ra, Shin Seul-gi, and Seo Bam-joon.

*Woo Zu Mary Me*, SBS’s latest Friday-Saturday drama, is set to air at 9:50 p.m., facing off directly against KBS2’s Saturday-Sunday series *Walking On Thin Ice*, which broadcasts at 9:20 p.m. Both productions are helmed by Song.

Director Song said, “*Walking On Thin Ice* was initially scheduled to be broadcast in February–March, but KBS’s choice to create a Saturday-Sunday mini-series led to the conflict. I also find this situation confusing.” When asked which of the two productions viewers should watch, he answered, “The genres are different, and the age groups of the main actors vary, so audiences might enjoy deciding between them. *Woo Zu Mary Me* is still in post-production, and I haven’t been able to move on from it yet. We put in a lot of effort and did our best.”

Speaking about the selection of Choi Woo-sik and Jung So-min, Song said, “Simply watching them on the monitor brings a smile and a sense of comfort. Their adorable and puppy-like personalities made them perfect for a romantic comedy.”

Choi Woo-sik said, “I wanted to move freely on set and felt like I could enjoy the filming process. I treated it like visiting a playground.” He also mentioned, “Although I’ve humorously referred to myself as the ‘rom-com prince,’ I don’t have much experience in this genre. This time, I relied heavily on guidance from my senior actors and the director.”

Jung So-min shared, “I watched *Another Miss Oh* late at night and became excited about collaborating with the director. Once I read the script, I thought it would be enjoyable to work with Choi Woo-sik, which is why I decided to join this project.” She added, “Director Song kept prolonging the scenes until he said ‘cut,’ but Choi Woo-sik easily kept up with any spontaneous lines I came up with, making it easy for me to perform without any hesitation. It’s a pity that this amazing chemistry will only last for one project.”

When comparing *Woo Zu Mary Me* with her earlier film *This Life Is Our First*, in which she acted alongside Lee Min-ki, Jung stated, “*This Life Is Our First* seemed like a tranquil lake, whereas *Woo Zu Mary Me* is vibrant and full of energy, similar to a theme park. Instead of showcasing a different aspect, I concentrated on adding my own touch to the character ‘Mary.’”

Bae Na-ra, recognized for her roles in genres including that of an LGBTQ+ deserter in *D.P.2*, stated, “I aimed to present a different image. With such a talented director and cast, there was no reason to refuse.”

Director Song, who has never exceeded a 15% viewership rating, set the goal for *Woo Zu Mary Me* at 15%. He remarked, “If we reach this, maybe we’ll have the chance to collaborate with Choi Woo-sik and Jung So-min once more,” surprising the audience with his commitment.

When the host said, “Reaching 15% won’t be simple,” Jung proposed reducing the goal to 10%, while Choi suggested 8%, which caused amusement.

SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama *Woo Zu Mary Me* centers on Yu Mary (Jung So-min), a woman who is about to get married but ends up breaking off her engagement. As a result, she wins a luxurious townhouse as part of a wedding festival contest. In order to retain the property, she enters into a 90-day fake marriage with Kim Woo-ju (Choi Woo-sik). The show will air tonight at 9:50 p.m. It is directed by Song Hyun-wook, known for works such as *Another Miss Oh*, *Beauty Inside*, and *Yeonmo*.
