The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps handed over an Indian Hemp trader along with two other individuals to officials from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano on Friday.

The individuals under suspicion were taken into custody within the Doguwa Local Government Area of the state.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, made this statement when speaking to journalists at the command’s headquarters just after transferring the suspects.

He mentioned that the suspects were captured on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Riruwai gate by the team members of the corps in Doguwa division after receiving a report.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, around 02030hrs, agents from the NSCDC’s Doguwa branch, based on reliable information, stopped a motorbike and arrested a well-known Indian Hemp (Wiwi) seller, Yusuf Alasan, who is 25 years old.

“The suspect, who lives in Doguwa town, was taken into custody together with two other adults, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani, who were carrying three sacks (of sugar size) containing marijuana, moving it from Doguwa town to Kafau, within the Doguwa local government area of Kano State,” he stated.

Bodinga mentioned that initial inquiries have been completed by the unit, and in the spirit of teamwork and cooperation, “we are transferring the alleged drug trafficker, along with the other two suspects and the evidence to the NDLEA, Kano State branch, for additional investigations and appropriate legal measures.”

He emphasized again the command’s dedication to work together with all the sister security agencies in the state to counter the harmful plans of criminals, no matter where they may be located in Kano state.

On August 6, 2025, agents from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, detained two individuals believed to be linked todrug dealing and burglary in Kano.

The detention was verified in a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

“The NSCDC agents have achieved another success in the battle against criminal activities, after apprehending two alleged offenders in different operations,” he stated.
