A man and woman believed to be a pair were discovered deceased within a single-room apartment in a multi-family residence in Sejong City, leading to a police inquiry.

As reported by the Sejong Northern Police Station on the 10th, the remains of Mr. A (in his 60s) and Ms. B (in her 50s) were found around 2:35 p.m. that day in a single-room apartment on the third floor in Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong City.

The landlord, who had become suspicious following an extended period without contact with the tenants and their outstanding rent, went to the unit personally that day and verified the deaths after asking fire officials to open the front door. The two were reportedly discovered lying next to each other in the room.

The police intend to ask the National Forensic Service to conduct an autopsy in order to establish the precise time and reason for the death. A fire official said, “The landlord mentioned they had not been in touch since their last call on the 25th of the previous month.”

The police stated, “Although they are believed to have been a couple cohabiting, the severe decomposition of the bodies has made it challenging to verify their identities. At this time, there is no evidence of forced entry, criminal activity, or a suicide note.”

They stated, “Actions are being taken to find family members, but it has not yet been verified if they have offspring. The inquiry into the situation is continuing based on accounts from the landlord and local residents.”
