World number six Jessica Pegula made a comeback from 2-5 down in the final set to defeat top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) on Saturday, advancing to the Wuhan Open final against American Coco Gauff. Pegula broke Sabalenka during the third set when the Belarusian was serving for the match and again to take a 6-5 lead. The American missed two match points in the following game, allowing Sabalenka to tie the score, but Pegula took control in the tiebreak to secure the win after two hours and 20 minutes.
