The Chief Executive of IESCO, Engineer Ch. Khalid Mahmood, has mentioned that electricity theft is not only a significant hindrance to Pakistan’s development and growth but also an unfair burden on law-abiding consumers who consistently pay their electricity bills. This issue will not be accepted under any circumstances. Ch. Khalid Mahmood noted that the anti-electricity theft campaign is being effectively implemented across all operational zones, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi Cantt, Pindi City, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and nearby regions, with active collaboration from the police and other law enforcement bodies. The IESCO Chief added that during October 2025, teams checked over 94,000 electricity meters, out of which 142 were discovered to have direct electricity connections and 16 were found to be tampered with. A total of 158 individuals involved in electricity theft were fined over Rs. 13.6 million, while 42 people were detained by the police for participating in this national and unethical activity.
The head of IESCO issued clear instructions to all field units to maintain the operation targeting electricity theft without any bias. He emphasized his determination, stating, “We will not permit anyone to steal electricity, and we will eradicate this problem at any cost.”
