The Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania finalized, on Friday in Belém, a bilateral action plan designed to enhance collaboration in the areas of environment and sustainable development over the next two years.

Approved by the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and Mauritania’s Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Messouda Baham Mohamed Laghdaf, during the Leaders’ Summit preceding COP30, this plan is part of the execution of the cooperation agreement established between the two nations in Rabat.

This strategy outlines the sharing of insights across various fields of mutual concern, such as environmental administration, combating global warming, waste disposal, ecological transformation, the marine economy, comprehensive coastal area management, and environmental surveillance.

The two sides have also pledged to discover and carry out collaborative initiatives, while striving to secure financial support from regional and global organizations.

Scheduled activities involve study visits, training seminars, and collaborative involvement in global forums and simulation exercises focused on addressing unintentional marine pollution.
