The ongoing marital conflict between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her former husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has escalated to a deeply troubling level, with the actress becoming emotional due to claims of family harassment and the contentious arrest of her brother, Samuel Daniels, widely referred to as Sammy West.

The split, which previously made Regina think about seeking a divorce, has now turned into a major public controversy. In a series of heartfelt videos posted online, the actress admitted to feeling overwhelmed by fear, stress, and anxiety regarding her brother’s well-being.
Her display of feelings has generated significant worry on social media, with fans, relatives, and other celebrities demanding Sammy’s release and encouraging both sides to reduce the rising conflict.
Regina’s meltdown, desperation
In one of the videos shared approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, Regina emotionally admitted that the circumstances had significantly impacted her psychological and emotional well-being.
“Guys, I gave it my best shot. I feel like I’m losing my mind and going insane. It doesn’t make any sense. I’m finally breaking down and crying in front of everyone. Every day, I wake up to new things about my brother online. Today, I hear some good news; tomorrow, something completely different. I’ve tried, and I’m going back,” she said.
She then shared another post, stating that her mother, Rita Daniels, had told her that the police would apprehend her on Monday after an arrest warrant was reportedly issued by Ned Nwoko.
Regina later suggested that she could go back to her separated husband to put an end to the conflict.
“I give up! What did my brother do wrong? Was it standing up for his baby sister when her in-laws kept beating her? I’ll come back if that’s the only option, do whatever he wants, get injected to become a zombie, be locked up and abused at home. Only then will my brother return,” she wrote.
This followed her earlier indication of lack of interest in reconciling with Nwoko in a previous post, where she wrote, “Leave my family alone, Ned! And leave me alone too! Do things have to completely fall apart if partners aren’t interested anymore?”
In a video posted earlier in the week, Regina claimed that Sammy was detained and transported to a secret place, mentioning that she has been experiencing sleeplessness and weight loss due to the situation.
My family is currently experiencing chaos, but we will surely overcome it. I will fight for my children, Ned. I will take them and raise them, with or without you, my love, my former husband.
She exclaimed with intensity, “My whole attention at this moment is on finding out where my brother is. Where’s Sammy, Ned? Now, this battle will be about power against power, or rather, aura against aura!”
The Ogwashi-Uku community refutes any connection to the marital conflict
In an open letter shared on Instagram, a woman named Favour Awele Obi, who said she represented the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, mentioned that the matter should be addressed according to traditional customs.
She claimed that Regina’s family tried to return her dowry to Nwoko, but he declined to take it, stating that marriage, according to tradition, cannot be enforced.
A section of the letter, titled “Call for Respect of Ogwashi-Uku Traditions and Immediate Peaceful Resolution,” stated:
Normally, if a man refuses to pay the bride price, the community has the authority to place it at an official site, specifically Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku. This action officially ends the marriage responsibilities.
Nevertheless, the documented arrest and harassment of the woman’s family is intolerable, harsh, and a violation of both our people and our enduring customs. The Ogwashi-Uku community is recognized for harmony, not terror, and we cannot remain silent as our traditions and honor are disrespected. Hence, we politely yet strongly request that you implement remedial measures within 48 hours.
Nevertheless, when Saturday Beats called one of the phone numbers listed in the statement, the person who answered introduced himself as the father of Rita Daniels, Regina’s mother, and rejected the letter, claiming that the community had no involvement.
He stated, “How did you obtain my number? I am the father of Rita Daniels, the mother of Regina Daniels. What connection does the Ogwashi-Uku community have with this? This is a private family issue. My phone number is not publicly listed.”
A second individual, who introduced himself as a community leader, also claimed not to know about the letter, saying, “This is a private matter. The community will not get involved unless the family extends an invitation. I am unaware of any such letter, and I have nothing to add.”
Regina’s parents get back together to support their daughter
In an unexpected development, Regina revealed that her mother, Rita Daniels, has reconciled with her separated husband, Jude Ojeogwu, in order to provide support for their children.
She said, “Two former sworn enemies have come together for their daughter’s well-being. They are now in Abuja. Bro Sammy’s detention is dragging on too long. We will secure his release, or I will go there myself and cause a commotion.”
Previously, Rita had publicly criticized Nwoko in a widely shared video, asserting that Regina provided financial backing for his political campaign. In the video, in which she was seen on a call, she stated:
You desired someone with a high star to elevate your fallen one. I remained silent and endured it. Now, just as you ascended, you will descend. If you believe you can bite the hand that fed you, then you will fall. People are talking about money—what money? When you were running for office, how much did Gina give you? That young girl gave you $50,000. All my resources were poured into your campaign; you’re out of your mind.
Nevertheless, some fans later uncovered an old post in which Regina displayed presents and a $100,000 cash credit she stated came from Ned, leading to varied responses on the internet.
Sammy remains in custody
Meanwhile, another of Regina’s siblings, Sweezzy, who resides overseas, sounded the alarm about reported efforts to move Sammy to Keffi Prison.
He said, “They’re trying to control us! Sammy hasn’t been allowed bail! They plan to transfer him to Keffi Prison. What kind of unfairness is this? Ned is attempting to detain my brother in Keffi Prison for speaking out and standing up against domestic violence towards our sister, Regina Daniels. Are Nigerian police still the representatives of the people, or have they lost their significance? He deserves a fair and unbiased trial. Please help me! Ned wants to harm my brother! #FreeSammyWest. He has a child and a family that relies on him, set my son free, set my brother free.”
He also responded to one of Regina’s posts, shedding light on Sammy’s current situation:
It’s time to start that storm, G! Seeing Sammy cry hurt me and still does. Jaeda shouting, ‘My daddy is bleeding!’ broke me. But no yawa! Family is forever, no matter who it is!
Previously, he had criticized Nwoko for being hypocritical, stating that his son was said to have died due to substance abuse, yet he denied allegations that Regina was a drug user.
Accusing my brothers of drug use? What caused your son’s death in the UK? Heart failure and a seizure from taking too many drugs! But no one said anything. You’ve lost all credibility now. If you ask him, he’ll claim she came for my money. You came for her fame! The deal is done, the case is closed! She made you a senator, and you used her for door-to-door campaigning.
Sweezzy also initiated a petition calling for Nwoko to face consequences for claimed misuse of authority, which had accumulated more than 30,000 signatures by the time this report was submitted.
Police remain silent, state issue is before the court
As per a report from Vanguard, the Lagos Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, refuted claims that Lagos-based officers were responsible for Sammy’s arrest, explaining that the personnel involved came from Abuja and had a valid warrant.
Upon being reached, FCT Police PRO, Josephine Adeh, refused to make any statement, stating, “The case has been referred to court. I have no comments on an issue that is already under judicial review.”
Supporters, critics weigh in
In the meantime, actress Mercy Johnson has continued to show strong support for her goddaughter, Regina Daniels. In popular videos, Johnson was shown traveling from location to location with a group of military personnel along with Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, in an effort to find Sammy.
Actress Mercy Aigbe also conveyed a message of unity, expressing love, resilience, and prayers for Regina, as YouTube personality Ruth Kadiri openly showed her backing during the continuing family and marital turmoil.
Nevertheless, despite the wave of compassion, some online users have expressed disapproval of the play.
In response to the situation, seasoned entertainer Charly Boy, also referred to as Area Fada, shared a video on Instagram commenting on the couple. He stated, “I recall when Ned Nwoko and the young sweet sixteen, Regina Daniels, were in the headlines, with issues everywhere. As an elder who married his great-grandchild, Ned should be aware that Nigerians aren’t really concerned; they’re just enjoying the ride and being entertained by your antics. Who truly cares about what’s going on in your home? The internet has turned into a space where people discuss nonsense. Both of you should keep your undergarments and smelly boxers within your house, wash them there, and stop sharing everything that happens in the bedroom as news.”
Comedian Dee One also commented on the dispute, supporting Nwoko and criticizing Regina along with her mother. He claimed that Regina made unfounded accusations that could harm her ex-husband’s reputation. “Ned is a respectable individual,” he stated. “Unlike Regina, who clearly lacks an understanding of loyalty or the importance of a good reputation. I believe Ned is upset because a good name holds more value than wealth.”
Online activist Vincent Otse, widely recognized as VDM, also supported Nwoko’s assertions that Regina was reportedly linked to drug use.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, VDM stated, “After viewing the video Regina Daniels uploaded this morning, I now believe Ned Nwoko that she is involved with drugs. She was incoherent, speaking extensively without conveying any real message. That’s common among drug users. Those around her should encourage her to seek rehabilitation. Even her mother acknowledged it in her own video when she said, ‘Ned, tell the world what you did to that girl. Who enticed her into this because of a fantasy?’”
He continued by portraying Regina as mentally unbalanced, stating that she “shot herself in the leg” through the video, as her speech was incoherent. He advised her to follow Nwoko’s suggestion and pursue treatment. VDM also criticized Regina’s mother, calling her a “poor mother” for permitting her 18-year-old daughter to marry an older man who had multiple spouses.
Singer Seun Kuti, on the other hand, held a different view. He claimed that Regina’s marriage to Nwoko highlighted the nation’s deteriorating social circumstances, emphasizing that financial struggles have pushed numerous young women into unions based on survival rather than true love.
