The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will organize the first edition of the Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora, serving as a forum to enhance policy and innovation for a digital future.
The forums aim to create a supportive setting for developing Infrastructure related to Innovation and Inclusion, and to establish a strong basis for closing the gap between policy and infrastructure in national development.
The first edition, with the theme: “No One Left Behind: Digital Assets, Fairness, and Strength“which is set to occur on November 13, 2025, will gather professionals from the industry, government officials, and local community representatives to discuss effective ways to close the digital gap.
Workshops during the first forum are anticipated to center around creating equitable digital policies, encouraging the implementation of accessible infrastructure, crafting flexible digital education initiatives, and pushing for cost-effectiveness and availability in digital services.
Africa is home to the youngest population globally, with 60% of its inhabitants below the age of 25. Given Nigeria’s significant role in this statistic, the NCC acknowledges this as a valuable resource and is committed to harnessing the unexploited potential of this demographic while ensuring the inclusion of the broader population.
Beyond its dedication to safeguarding more than 140 million Internet users, this awareness campaign aims to emphasize the significance of inclusive involvement in Nigeria’s digital economy. It seeks to unite important stakeholders from regulatory agencies, academic institutions, the private sector, and development organizations to discuss how digital access and innovation can be utilized to support marginalized communities, foster fairness, and advance national growth.
The Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora is a joint initiative involving the industry and various stakeholders such as the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS). Additional participants include the Association of Telecommunications Operators in Nigeria (ATCON), FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), Nigerian University Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of People with Disabilities (JONWAD), Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The gathering will include panel conversations, displays from pioneers, financial technology groups, and students, fostering a setting to present innovations that highlight the imagination and promise of Nigeria’s digital landscape.
The gathering will be broadcast live through a specific website atscf.ncc.gov.ngguaranteeing widespread access and involvement.
