Moroccan experts in digital and cutting-edge technologies have commended the Interior Ministry’s decision to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into the nation’s security and administrative frameworks, calling it a significant move toward a forward-thinking, technology-focused strategy for national security.

Experts noted that the program enables officials to use AI for analysis, prediction, and data-based decision-making, improving collaboration between organizations and simplifying administrative procedures.

Digital transformation in the security industry is a crucial strategy,” they stated, “since the real challenge lies in employing AI as a means to benefit citizens throughout all essential sectors.

Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit recently informed a parliamentary committee that the ministry is utilizing artificial intelligence in information systems, digitizing administrative records, providing police officers with body-worn cameras, and employing drones to monitor large regions, all with the goal of preventing crime in advance and enhancing transparency.

Experts pointed out the ability of AI to track changing criminal behaviors, offer accurate investigative methods, and protect confidential information, especially in large public gatherings. They emphasized that technology supports human knowledge, ensuring choices are correct and ethical.

Experts also highlighted the application of AI in stadium security, where intelligent cameras equipped with facial and motion recognition monitor activities, prevent chaos, and detect threats linked to social media. They pointed out that the next phase will involve broadening AI’s role in predicting behavior, analyzing video and images, and enhancing the connection between digital and security systems, while maintaining a balance between public safety and privacy safeguards.
