Google is incorporating its cutting-edge Gemini AI into Google Maps to enhance navigation precision and introduce functionalities such as a personalized co-pilot.
This feature incorporates Gemini into the Navigation system, allowing voice commands for locating points of interest, creating calendar events, accessing personalized news, and tracking traffic incidents.
The voice-activated system will be available on Android and iOS in the coming weeks, with Android Auto support to follow later.
Additionally, Google is introducing:
Navigation using prominent landmarks to aid in direction.
Early warning traffic notifications: Informs users ahead of time about road obstacles.
Camera equipped with Gemini: An intelligent feature to recognize locations by simply pointing at them.
All of these features are currently available only in the United States.
