A tech entrepreneur and creative economy expert, Mr. Oluwaseun Dania, who is also the founder of Alpha-Geek Technologies, recently introduced innovative concepts influencing the future of African storytelling, including AI governance and digital policy, at the World Bank and Eden Venture Group’s Entertaining Change: Next-Generation Media Partnerships for Social Impact and Gender Equality event held in the United States.
During the knowledge-exchange session on AI for Entertainment Media Content: Enhancing Impact and Research, Dania explained how artificial intelligence can create new possibilities for creators, researchers, regulators, and development partners throughout the continent.
Notable points shared during the event were: AI as a Catalyst for African Innovation; The Indie-Studio-in-a-Box: A Creative and Economic Revolution; A.I.R.: A Contemporary Ethical Approach for Creative AI; Working with Universities to Address AI Bias and Revise Creative Education Programs; and Advocated for a Creative AI Regulatory Pilot Program.
Regarding AI as a catalyst for African creativity, Dania highlighted that AI does not substitute creativity, but enhances it.
“The creative industry in Africa already influences global culture. AI provides our narratives with wider exposure, greater impact, and financial power,” he stated.
He demonstrated how AI aids in scriptwriting, editing, visual effects, audio improvement, audience prediction, and copyright protection, allowing African creators to develop content that can compete globally while greatly lowering expenses.
For Indie-Studio-in-a-Box: A Creative and Economic Innovation, Dania launched the Indie-Studio-in-a-Box, an AI-driven production system that enables small groups (5–8 members) to complete a full studio workflow using just one laptop. The system features: AI-supported script creation; Virtual pre-visualization; Intelligent on-set production tools; Automated post-production (clean-up, VFX, editing); Multi-language AI voice-over; AI-based IP security; and Quick digital release.
“A fully equipped African studio can now fit inside a laptop. This marks a significant change for creators and the economy,” he stated.
