Samsung announced on the 12th that it has launched the extended reality (XR) device ‘Galaxy XR’ within its employee training initiatives, covering everything from new employees to top-level executives. The company plans to move away from traditional classroom-based learning during orientation and advancement training, and instead offer engaging education through AI-powered XR devices.

Samsung has focused on implementing XR devices for five areas beginning this month: meditation, Samsung history experience, leadership, foreign languages, and discussions. When employees use the device, a virtual screen appears in front of them, enabling them to look around 360 degrees and engage with the environment.

For instance, employees can take a virtual tour of the interior of Samsung Sanghoe, the company’s original site established in 1938, to gain a historical perspective. During meditation training, they can also experience sitting in an area that accurately replicates the natural landscape surrounding the Samsung Meditation Center in Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Staff members can rehearse presentations or meetings in front of virtual coworkers or simulate the role of a department head resolving disputes between team members. Moreover, they get language training by interacting with a foreign client in a virtual restaurant, having conversations in English while enjoying steak and wine.

All instruction is powered by artificial intelligence. A major benefit is the capacity to train endlessly without the pressure of errors, as staff engage with AI characters in digital environments. The AI delivers instant feedback and comprehensive reports tailored to each person’s performance.

The Samsung Human Resources Development Center stated, “More than 20,000 individuals each year, such as new employees and those undergoing promotion training, are anticipated to participate in XR training,” noting, “In contrast to simply receiving information, trainees actively investigate and interact through hands-on learning in virtual environments, leading to much greater engagement than conventional approaches.”

Samsung mentioned that it intends to consistently grow its AI and XR content by integrating input from an external advisory panel made up of education and content specialists, along with trainees’ perspectives.
