Hwacheon KSPO achieved the top position in the WK League after 14 years since the club was established. They also enjoyed the satisfaction of winning three titles, a first in the history of South Korean women’s amateur football.

KSPO secured a 4-3 victory against Seoul City Hall in the second leg of the 2025 WK League Championship at Hwacheon Sports Park’s main stadium in Gangwon Province on the 15th, in a thrilling match that produced seven goals. Following their 3-2 win in the first leg on the 8th, KSPO claimed the unified championship title for the first time since their founding in 2011, with an overall score of 7-5.

Veteran forward Choi Yoo-jung, aged 33, delivered a solo performance with two goals and one assist. In the 9th minute of the first half, with the score at 1-0, she calmly netted her team’s second goal using a left-footed strike from the top of the penalty area. Eleven minutes later, she contributed to a 3-0 advantage with an impressive overhead kick. In the 24th minute of the second half, she provided a beautiful cross that led to the final goal by Wi Jae-eun. Seoul City Hall managed to score three goals in the closing moments of the second half, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the game.

KSPO added the league championship trophy to their victories at the National Women’s Football Championship and the National Sports Festival (National Sports Day) this year, achieving a treble. With KSPO becoming a significant player, the WK League, now in its 17th year since its establishment, has entered a period of real competition. Incheon Hyundai Steel, which had set an unmatched record of 11 consecutive unified championships from 2013, finished fourth last year out of eight teams and third this year, indicating the end of the ‘one-strong’ system. Choi Yoo-jung, who guided KSPO to their treble, was part of Hyundai Steel’s successful era from 2019 to 2023 before joining KSPO last year.
