Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is reportedly being considered for a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, a club expected to seek a replacement for Ben Davies when his contract expires.
The Brazilian central defender has become one of the top defenders in Serie A and is now the vice-captain of Juventus following his move from city rivals Torino in July 2022.
Gleison Bremer’s career path
- Called after the German football legend Andreas Brehme
- Became part of Atletico Mineiro following youth stints at Sao Paulo and Desportivo Brasil
- Purchased by Torino, at the age of 21, in 2018
- Joined Juventus in 2022 and earned his first call-up to the Brazilian national team two months after.
- Reached 100 appearances for Juve and has received five Brazil selections
It is well known thatTottenhamlooking to bring in a new central defender to offer backup for Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, both of whom were connected with transfers during the summer and have faced injury issues.
Thomas Frank also includes Kevin Danso, Ben Davies, and the injured Radu Dragusin in his squad, yet centre-backs remain connected to a potential move to north London.
One name in the mix is Juventus’ Bremer, who was closely associated with a Premier League transfer during his impressive time at Torino.
Football Italiahave presented a somewhat speculative analysis indicating that Tottenham might pursue Bremer, mainly because his representative agency also handles several players from the club.

Clearly, they have combined the facts by observing that Davies’ contract will end after the 2025/26 season.
Bremer is managed by CAA Base Ltd, the same agency that handles James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, Djed Spence, and Richarlison.
Bremer is arguably the top defender in Serie A, and also one of Juventus’ key players. Signing him would be a major achievement for Tottenham and could potentially push either Van de Ven or Romero out of the starting lineup if all three were at the club.
And claiming that Bremer could step in to replace Davies is truly remarkable.
Bremer to Tottenham? Perhaps not…
A significant problem exists: Bremer has participated in just 10 league matches since the beginning of the previous season.
The 28-year-old played in all the minutes of Juventus’ first six Serie A games last season until he suffered an ACL tear, which kept him from the rest of the season.
He played and concluded Juve’s initial three matches of the 2025/26 season before being given a break on matchday four. He subsequently led the team on matchday five but has remained unused since suffering a meniscus injury.
That is worrying and might discourage potential suitors such as Spurs.
He is not anticipated to come back until next year following surgery in October.
However, if interested clubs are uncertain about taking the chance, Juventus’ performance without him highlights just how essential he is.
In six Serie A matches out of nine games in all competitions, without Bremer, the Italian club has managed to win just two times and has gone goalless in four of those fixtures.
During that time, Juventus dismissed head coach Igor Tudor and appointed Luciano Spalletti instead.
