The Mashemeji derby has once again been delayed for the second consecutive season because of an insufficient venue.

The match, originally planned for Sunday, November 30 at the Kasarani Stadium, was moved to Saturday, November 29 at the Nyayo Stadium.

Nevertheless, it has now come to light that both locations will not be available for the match, leading to the game being moved to a different date.

Nairobi United had already reserved Kasarani Stadium for their CAF Confederation group stage encounter with AS Maniema on Sunday. The team from Ivory Coast is required to train at the venue the day prior to the match, which means Kasarani will not be available on both Saturday and Sunday.

The authorities had previously reserved Nyayo for World AIDS Day events on Monday, December 1, although arrangements will start on Saturday.

“The much-awaited Derby game, scheduled for this weekend, has been delayed because the venue is not available; a new date will be announced in the next few days,” stated Gor Mahia.
