Minho from SHINee has taken on the role of a basketball team’s captain in SBS’s new reality show “Rising Eagles”.
On the 26th, a production showcase for “Rising Eagles” took place at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Director Seo Hyun-seok, broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon (a former basketball player), Chon Tae-poong, Minho, singers Jeong Jin-woon and Son Tae-jin, NCT’s Johnny, actors Park Eun-seok, Oh Seung-hoon, and Kim Taek, show host Park Chan-woong, models Moon Soo-in and Lee Dae-hee, and influencer Jeong Kyu-min, along with others.
Minho, recognized as a “leading athlete in the entertainment sector,” disclosed that he was unable to pursue a career as a footballer during his youth because of his parents’ disapproval. He mentioned, “Personally, it was a privilege to accomplish through this program what I had wished for since childhood.”
He said, “When I informed my parents about my participation in this program, they were extremely concerned that I might get hurt and it could impact my primary career. I assured them, ‘Don’t worry, I won’t get injured,’ and they responded, ‘You’re an adult now, so you can do whatever you want.’” He went on, “I was thankful to briefly experience the mindset of the athletes. I wonder when I’ll have this feeling again. It’s a valuable memory I’ll always cherish.”
Minho stated, “When I participate in sports that I like, I naturally reduce stress and regain energy. As I dedicate effort to sports while maintaining a strong focus on my primary career.” He further mentioned, “Through this program, I discovered new perspectives on knowledge I was already familiar with and was able to approach basketball with greater sincerity.”
In the meantime, “Rising Eagles” showcases the Rising Eagles, a basketball team from the entertainment sector, as they aim to dominate Asian basketball. Renowned figures in Korean basketball, Seo Jang-hoon and Chon Tae-poong, who have made a comeback to the court, are at the helm of the team. The show will debut this Saturday, the 29th, at 5 p.m.
