The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) has disbanded all current governance bodies of the Rayon Sports Association and formed a five-member temporary committee, headed by Abdallah Murenzi, to assume control immediately. This decision came after a meeting on Tuesday, November 25, between RGB and club leadership members, where the organization highlighted ongoing governance issues that have affected the club’s performance, internal unity, and its overall contribution to national sports development. According to the governance body’s evaluation, the club has faced structural and leadership weaknesses across various departments. These concerns were also mentioned by Members of Parliament during a parliamentary session on November 19, reviewing RGB’s 2024/25 performance report. Lawmakers warned that the club’s continuous internal conflicts were harming not only its reputation but also the broader social and economic benefits that sports bring to Rwanda. As a result, the meeting decided to immediately suspend the club’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Audit Committee, and Conflict Resolution Committee. A five-member interim committee, led by Murenzi, has since been appointed to guide the club through the transition for the next three months, with a mandate to oversee major reforms aimed at restoring stability and improving management at the club.
