Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga), Tanzania’s representatives in the Caf Champions League, will be missing seven important players before their second Group B game against JS Kabylie on Friday at 10pm Tanzanian time.

The game is set to occur at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium in Boukhalfa, Tizi Ouzou Province.

The list of absent players features Dennis Nkane, Salum “Sure Boy” Abubakar, Farid Mussa, Kibwana Shomari, Nizar Othman Abubakar (Ninju), Abdulnasir “Casemiro” Mohammed, and Clement Mzize, who is still in the process of recovering from knee surgery.

Although facing these challenges, Yanga continue to show confidence, drawing on a thoroughly prepared team that features goalkeepers Djigui Diarra, Abubakar Khomein, and Aboutwalib Mshery, defenders Bakari Mwamnyeto, Dickson Job, Ibrahim “Bacca” Abdulla, Frank Assinki, Mohammed “Tshabalala” Hussein Chadrack Boka, and Israel Mwenda.

The midfielders include Mudathir Yahya, Duke Abuya, Maxi Nzengeli, Shekhan Khamis, Moussa Bala Conte, and Aziz Andabwile, along with the forwards Prince Dube and Andy Boyeli.

The match on Friday holds significant importance for Yanga. The team is currently in second place in Group B with three points, after a strong 1–0 win against Morocco’s AS FAR at the New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar last Saturday.

The Egyptian club Al Ahly lead the standings due to a better goal difference following a strong 4–1 victory against JS Kabylie in Cairo, increasing the pressure on the Algerian team to perform well in their own territory.

Yanga, on the other hand, are keen to strengthen their standing and keep their momentum going in the quest for a spot in the knockout rounds. For head coach Pedro Gonçalves and his coaching staff, the game demands full concentration and control, especially when facing a home team looking to bounce back.

JS Kabylie, placed at the bottom of the standings following their initial loss, will view this match as an opportunity to make amends in front of their fans.

Consistently powerful on home soil, the North African team can be very challenging, which means Yanga needs to perform at their highest level to achieve another favorable outcome and boost their chances for the upcoming phase of the tournament.

Besides Yanga’s game, the other Group B match will feature AS FAR hosting Al Ahly at the Rabat Olympic Stadium simultaneously.

Both games are anticipated to greatly influence the course of Group B, as teams compete for a place in the quarterfinals. For Yanga, the match on Friday is not only about securing points; it is about showcasing perseverance and strategic experience in a tough setting while staying competitive with the top teams in the group.

Despite a smaller team, Yanga will concentrate on overcoming the challenges of absent players, the difficulty of playing away from home, and the stress of facing a determined JS Kabylie.

The result will be crucial in deciding which team progresses from Group B to the knockout rounds of Africa’s top club tournament.
