The Enugu State Government has obtained two long-range drones, 10 Hilux vehicles, 40 motorbikes, 400 bulletproof vests, and 400 helmets from the Enugu State Security Trust Fund (ESSTF) to enhance security within the state.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) states that Gov. Peter Mbah officially launched the ESSTF on February 13, 2024, to enhance the state’s efforts in combating crimes and unlawful activities in Enugu.
Displaying the security devices at Government House Enugu on Monday, the Deputy Chairman of the ESSTF, Mr. Nathaniel Udeh, praised Mbah for ensuring safety and tranquility in Enugu by investing in security infrastructure.
He mentioned that the security trust fund obtained the items using the proceeds from fundraising activities it conducted to assist the state government in eliminating crime in Enugu.
If you recall, on February 13, 2024, you launched the Enugu Security Trust Fund and provided us with some matching directives regarding our objectives.
You also mentioned that you want people to view Enugu as the safest state, a place where everyone feels at ease and security is not a concern for those looking to invest.
“We did not forget about that assignment, and the funds from it have been used to acquire some of the items you will be inaugurating today,” Udeh stated.
In his statement, Gov. Mbah thanked ESSTF for its dedication and efforts in maintaining a safe and secure Enugu State.
The leader also praised the security forces in Enugu for their role in ensuring the state’s safety and success.
We can confidently state today that violent crimes have decreased by more than 80 percent in Enugu state, and we are not standing still because the criminals and these undesirable elements we are confronting are also not inactive.
In the field of security, you might have achieved a score of 90, but a single breach can significantly impact and undo all your previous accomplishments.
He mentioned that the received devices would be properly utilized to achieve the best outcomes.
Previously, the Executive Secretary of the ESSTF, Mr. Chinedu Anih, stated that the devices would enhance the application of technology in combating crime within the state.
“To advance the strategic goal of leveraging technology to combat crime, we opted for drones equipped with the most advanced technology. These drones can patrol all areas of Enugu State and more at remarkable speed,” Ani stated.
He praised Mbah for his exceptional assistance during the launch and fundraising efforts.
