The Ministry of Education and Sports in Morocco has introduced an online platform designed to detect athletic potential among students through physical assessments and body measurements, incorporating the system into the Massar school network as a pilot project this school year.
The system mandates that physical education instructors input data from standardized fitness assessments and body measurement evaluations at the beginning of every academic year, establishing a centralized database across local, regional, and national tiers.
Abdesslam Mili, head of school sports, stated that the system would facilitate a scientific and fair evaluation of students’ abilities nationwide and help identify outstanding talent at an early stage.
The action aligns with plans to create a national center for top school athletes, scheduled for 2026, aimed at bringing together training for students with great potential.
In a letter addressed to regional and local education officials, the ministry stated that the database would also assist in recognizing health dangers during exercise and enhance the organization of school sports initiatives.
Authorities stated that the pilot phase will continue throughout the current academic year before a nationwide evaluation meeting planned for April 2026.
