The Lebanese military denied Iranian claims regarding the allegiance and loyalty of certain of its personnel on Thursday.
“The Army Command firmly rejects these claims and states that all its personnel follow a precise and steadfast military doctrine and are fully loyal to the military organization and the nation,” it stated in a release.
“It also urges against spreading questionable information intended to harm the army’s reputation, particularly during this crucial time our country is going through,” the army stated.
A website linked to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, recently cited an Iranian university professor who claimed that “30% of the Lebanese Army personnel are affiliated with Hezbollah.”
“They don the military attire in the morning and align with Hezbollah by night,” the professor stated.
