Security forces engaged in domestic missions have detained 74 individuals believed to be terrorists, their accomplices, oil thieves, and other unlawful persons in November 2025.
The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) revealed this through a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, on Thursday.
Onoja further revealed that 69 militants along with their families also laid down their arms to soldiers in the North-East geopolitical region last month.
The director mentioned that the military also detained 25 individuals suspected of stealing oil and other criminals, dismantled 16 unauthorized refining locations, and recovered goods that had been stolen, valued at N217,664,618.00 throughout that time frame.
Onoja added that military forces prevented the theft of oil products valued at N217,664,618.00, which amounts to 201,700 liters of crude oil and 88,177 liters of AGO, and also shut down 16 unauthorized refining locations.
“Consequently, during the month of November, a number of terrorists, bandits, extremists, and other criminal groups were apprehended, many were eliminated, and more than 69 of them along with their relatives surrendered, while 318 abducted individuals were also freed,” he stated.
The military command praised the soldiers for their courage and encouraged them to keep up the progress.
The declaration encouraged the ongoing exchange of reliable information from the public to the military personnel in order to improve combat activities.
“We continue to seek the support of all Nigerians in this matter. We also urge assistance for the veterans by endorsing the Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem introduced by the President on 2 December, 2025 at the Presidential Villa,” he said.
He confirmed that the Nigerian Armed Forces are committed to conducting operations in accordance with the law.
Onoja pledged to Nigerians that the armed forces are increasing their activity levels due to the resurfacing security challenges until tranquility is restored in every affected region throughout the nation.
The armed forces also confirmed that appropriate actions are being taken to guarantee the safe retrieval of students still present in the bandits’ stronghold and their return to their respective families.
“The AFN also wants to let all Nigerians know that we are implementing all possible measures, systems, and activities to ensure that the students who were recently taken are rescued and returned to their families safely,” Onoja stated.
