The head of the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has emphasized the Command’s dedication to enhancing its collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps in Borno State to guarantee the program fulfills its national objectives.
As per a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, on the Nigerian Army’s X account on Friday, Abubakar made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the Borno State NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Nasir Bello, along with his management team to the OPHK Headquarters in Maiduguri.
Greeting the group, the theater commander emphasized the vital part the NYSC has in fostering national unity and progress.
He praised the current collaboration between OPHK and the program, highlighting that the successful reopening and functioning of NYSC orientation camps in Borno indicate a notable enhancement in the state’s security conditions.
The successful resumption of NYSC orientation camps in the state reflects the notable enhancement in the security conditions in Borno.
“The command continues to strongly back NYSC initiatives, especially in ensuring the safety and well-being of corps members. This commitment is crucial before the upcoming local government elections in the state,” Abubakar stated.
During his comments, NYSC State Coordinator Mallam Nasir Bello thanked the Theatre Command for the enthusiastic welcome and ongoing assistance the program has received.
Bello stated that his visit aimed to formally acquaint himself with the leadership of OPHK after taking up his position in April 2025, and to emphasize the robust involvement of the NYSC in Borno.
He remembered that the program had halted operations in the state in previous years because of the insurgency, but resumed completely after the security situation improved.
Referring to the NYSC as the “child of the Nigerian Army,” Bello called for continued cooperation and support for the corps members stationed in the state.
The visit included signing the guestbook, presenting a keepsake to the NYSC Coordinator by the theatre commander, and taking a group photo to mark the occasion.
