The Nigerian Army’s Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations, Umar Muhammad, stated that the operations demonstrated that “no area is out of bounds for the Nigerian Army and no criminal hideout is beyond their grasp.”

Members of the 6th Brigade, Nigerian Army, have increased their activities throughout Taraba State, dismantling multiple outlaw camps, seizing arms, and apprehending an individual associated with unlawful actions.

The Nigerian Army’s Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations, Umar Muhammad, stated that the operations demonstrated that “no area is off-limits to the Nigerian Army and no criminal hideout is beyond their grasp.”

He mentioned that forces will keep “applying pressure until every danger to peace” is resolved.

The military stated that the activities during Operation Zafin Wuta on 2 December involved the villages of Shiid, Agia, and Tyozua within the Takum Local Government Area.

As per the statement, soldiers “moved toward the mountainous shelters,” leading the armed factions to withdraw deeper into the area.

The declaration mentioned that the deserted camps were “scanned and eradicated” throughout the mission.

It also mentioned that bandits “set fire to a wooden bridge” in Tyozua to hinder the movement of troops, but soldiers kept moving forward and “compelled the criminals to cross the power line into adjacent Benue State.”

A suspect, known as Dahiru Maigari, has been detained and is being probed.

The Army also stated that a different patrol on December 4 near Karim Lamido “was fired upon by armed robbers hiding behind the Wudompi Community.”

As per Mr. Muhammad, the soldiers “reacted quickly” and eliminated two of the assailants.

The statement mentioned that an examination of the area resulted in the retrieval of “one AK-47 rifle and twenty-one bullets.”

The assailants were identified as individuals from the Karimjo group trying to reorganize in the region.

The military stated that no personnel were harmed in the incident.

The unit stated that security surrounding Karim Lamido and nearby areas is still steady while activities are ongoing.
