December 2, 2025 (PORT SUDAN) – According to a medical organization, over 25,000 children have lost their lives and 45 girls have been sexually assaulted as they escaped the North-Darfur city of El Fasher since the conflict in Sudan started, based on data from the field that has not yet been published.
Adiba Ibrahim al-Sayed, a specialist in internal medicine and epidemiology affiliated with the national doctors’ syndicate, informed Sudan Tribune that the statistics include children from newborns up to 16 years old documented this week. Additionally, 566 children have experienced severe injuries, she mentioned.
All 45 instances of rape were reported in October and November when families traveled the 60 km (37 miles) from El Fasher to Tawila town after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city on October 26, according to al-Sayed. Médecins Sans Frontières provided care to the survivors in Tawila, which is currently home to 655,000 displaced individuals.
The medical team also recorded 800 children who arrived in Tawila without any family members, some exhibiting severe malnutrition and injuries from witnessing violent incidents during their journey.
“Communication outages and obstacles make verification nearly impossible, but the pattern aligns with previous UN reports,” al-Sayed stated.
The United Nations reports that 106,000 individuals have left El Fasher; the situation of the other 154,000 inhabitants remains unclear. The RSF, which has previously rejected allegations of attacking civilians, did not provide a statement when asked.
