Residents in Cambodia took refuge following Thailand’s airstrikes along the contested border, with Cambodian forces retaliating using rockets and drones. Both governments claim the other violated the ceasefire that had halted hostilities earlier this year.

Tens of thousands have already left border villages on both sides. Thai authorities state that over fifty thousand individuals are currently in shelters, while Cambodia’s defense ministry and international media indicate that the recent fighting this week has caused more than twenty thousand people to leave their homes within Cambodia alone.

As the toll increases, Cambodia states that seven civilians have been killed and twenty injured, while Thailand reports three soldiers dead.

Individuals in Thai shelters express anxiety, restless nights, and a feeling of familiarity due to past conflicts.
