Kam Tin’s impressive, ten-year-long harvest festival is ongoing until Friday.

The highlight of the long-standing Jiao festival is an HK$20 million bamboo, tin-roof theater lit up, surrounded by flags.

The custom of Kam Tin originates from 1685.

Taiping Qingjiao rituals are conducted to seek blessings from Taoist gods for a specific area or community.

The major celebration, hosted by the Tang family, includes lion performances, meatless meals, detailed ceremonies, and Cantonese opera.

Close to midnight, late on Thursday, large figures are scheduled to be set ablaze.

The Jiao festivals are included in the government’s register of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
