Sri Lanka, December 19 – The latest poetry anthology titled “Poems From Galle” by Chandana Ruwan Jayanetti is set to be unveiled at Dakshinapaya, the Auditorium of the Chief Ministry, Southern Provincial Council, located in Labuduwa, Galle, tomorrow (December 20) at 2 p.m.

The book features an introduction by Kamala Wijeratne, a seasoned poet and writer, along with Professor Lalith Ananda Gamage. It is dedicated to Emeritus Professor Rajiva Wijesinha, who was Chandana’s university instructor. Prof. Wijesinha will serve as the Chief Guest, while Poet Kamala Wijeratne will be the Guest of Honor. Saman Indrajith, the Deputy Editor of The Island and Sunday Island newspapers, has written a comprehensive Foreword.

Professor Rajiva Wijesinha will also provide an analysis of the book. Renowned Sinhala poet and musician Dr. Rathna Sri Wijesinghe, along with Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, and Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, will also be in attendance.

Poems From Galle is Chandana’s second collection of poetry, following his debut, Reflections in Loneliness, released in 2015. The event will feature poetry recitation and solo music performances, including a musical act by Praneeth Saranga, the renowned violinist from the SLBC orchestra.

Chandana serves as a Senior Lecturer in English at the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education- SLAITE, and is based at the Galle Advanced Technological Institute- ATI, where she leads the English Department.
