Chrisland Schools Limited has highlighted the significance of educational institutions establishing environments outside traditional classroom teaching, allowing students to articulate their thoughts, enhance self-assurance, and acquire vital life skills crucial for comprehensive learning.
The call took place during Chrisland’s Variety Night and Christmas Concert, titled “The Gift of Love,” which united students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders from various Chrisland campuses.
In her remarks, the Director of Schools, Mrs. Ayoola Akinyeye, emphasized the academic benefits of activities outside the classroom, noting that education extends beyond traditional learning environments.
She mentioned that shows such as the variety night are designed to assist students in improving their ability to speak publicly, confidence on stage, and mental health.
Akinyeye stated, “Education is never fully accomplished without the experiences that occur beyond the classroom. These activities provide children with a space to showcase and refine their talents, while also fostering self-assurance and appreciation,” she added.
She also mentioned that parents and caregivers played a part in fostering children’s confidence and sense of value.
The show included a mix of music, drama, dance, poetry, and group singing from pupils in the lower and upper schools, highlighting abilities developed beyond traditional classroom learning.
Akinyeye praised the students for their bravery and commitment, while also recognizing educators and mentors for supporting them in enabling pupils to succeed outside of school.
“This is a time that encourages us to love each other, to be compassionate, and to show that love through tangible actions,” Akinyeye stated, emphasizing that fostering kindness and empathy continues to be essential to the school’s approach.
She emphasized that the event aimed to bring together the Chrisland community “not as separate campuses, but as a single large organization,” while highlighting the values that reflect the school’s core principles.
The event featured participants from Chrisland’s Lagos campuses, such as Festac, VGC, Lekki, Ikeja, and Idimu, while comparable events took place at its four Abuja campuses.
Additionally, Mrs Kehinde Aluko, a member of the Advisory Board at Chrisland Schools, highlighted the significance of welcoming environments where every child, irrespective of their abilities, can engage and develop.
She mentioned that the school’s emphasis extends beyond recognizing outstanding ability to fostering collaboration, individual expression, and confidence development for every student.
“Not all children will become the most talented performers, but each child should have the chance to take part, have fun, and build self-assurance,” Aluko stated.
She mentioned that preventing children from accessing these platforms can weaken their self-confidence, encouraging parents to regularly support their kids’ participation in after-school activities to maintain their self-esteem as they grow older.
The gathering, which included raffle events representing the theme of love, highlighted Chrisland Schools’ dedication to developing balanced students through combining academic achievement with imagination, self-assurance, and involvement in the community.
