Dongwon Group reported on the 23rd that it organized the “2nd Dongwon AI Innopiad (AI Innopiad),” an internal AI contest for staff, at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, on the 22nd. The overall prize fund totals 40 million South Korean won.

The AI Innopiad, an internal contest for employees of Dongwon Group affiliates, took place for the second time after the event held last year. This year’s competition included 12 teams that progressed through initial rounds over about three months starting in October, leading up to final assessments. While the first event last year centered on generative AI using large language models (LLMs), this year’s focus was on “Agentic AI.” The aim is to ease the burden on professionals by having AI agents manage routine tasks like production scheduling and analysis of consumption trends.

Last tasks demonstrated this emphasis. Suggestions featured a “Financial AI Agent, AI Employ” designed to handle purchase invoices without requiring human involvement, an “AI Sales King” that develops sales tactics by analyzing distribution data from dealers and sales outlets, a “Master of Scheduling” to create production workflows and timetables, and an “AI Hazard Detection Center” aimed at improving workplace safety by integrating AI with CCTV for tracking dangerous substances.

The panel of judges featured academic specialists including Professors Shim Hyun-jung and Shin Ki-jung from KAIST’s Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI, Professor Lee Joon-hwan from Seoul National University, Professor Moon Tae Lee from the University of Illinois, and Professor Kim Seung-beom from Hongik University. Professionals from the industry, such as those from Microsoft, Samsung SDS, and PwC, were also involved.

Dongwon Group’s Chairman Kim Nam-jung remarked, “Agentic AI is like having 1,000 ‘efficient’ coworkers,” and encouraged attendees to “develop solutions that support both the company’s advancement and expansion via new technology implementation, as well as enhance the lives of upcoming generations.”
