LG Display announced on the 23rd that it plans to present the world’s first RGB stripe-structured organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel featuring a high refresh rate of 240 hertz (Hz) at the global IT and home appliance exhibition, ‘CES 2026’.
The RGB stripe configuration, which positions the three basic colors of light—RGB subpixels—in a horizontal layout, offers the benefit of minimizing visual issues like color bleeding even when viewed up close. Nevertheless, traditional RGB stripe panels had a top refresh rate of 60 Hz, limiting their effectiveness for gaming displays.
The 27-inch 4K OLED display for monitors introduced by LG Display this time retains the RGB stripe layout while increasing the refresh rate to 240 Hz. It is anticipated to provide excellent performance in situations with rapid screen changes, such as first-person shooter (FPS) games. Designed for monitor windows, operating systems, and font engines, it ensures clear readability and accurate color representation. Thanks to a high pixel density of 160 pixels per inch (ppi), it supports intricate details.
LG Display intends to initially launch the new pixel design in premium gaming monitors and high-performance display panels. Following this, it aims to broaden its range of clients and product offerings.
