Spotify has introduced a new “Prompted Playlist” function, utilizing artificial intelligence to enable users to create customized music selections using basic text instructions.
The leading streaming platform, already well-known for its algorithm-based suggestions, is enhancing user autonomy with this new feature. Through inputting particular queries, users can direct the AI to create playlists that extend beyond simple keyword searches.
In contrast to conventional search-focused lists, the system doesn’t depend only on the exact words given. Rather, the AI compares the user’s input with their full listening history and behavior trends. This thorough examination helps ensure the generated playlist closely matches the person’s distinct musical preferences.
A notable feature of the Prompted Playlist is its “auto-refresh” option. Individuals can configure their personalized playlists to update automatically on a daily or weekly schedule. This enables the collection to change over time without requiring manual updates or constant input.
The functionality is now being introduced as a trial for Spotify Premium users. New Zealand has been chosen as the first location to test the service.
Currently, the AI tool is limited to English language commands. Spotify has not yet announced a schedule for an expanded global release or additional language support.
