Federal authorities have initiated an inquiry into Renee Good’s partner after claims that she obstructed an ICE officer in the critical moments preceding her wife’s death, according to sources.
Okay, 37, was struck three times through the car window by an ICE officerJonathan Rossin Minneapolis on January 7 following her refusal to exit her car.
As reported by sources involved in the inquiry, who have spoken toNBC News, the Department of Justice is now proceeding with an inquiry into Good’s bereaved wife, Rebecca.
The investigation is said to examine Rebecca’s connections with activist organizations and events that occurred before her wife’s passing, as mentioned in the report.
The alleged action taken against Good’s wifefollows days after at least six federal prosecutors stepped down in objection to being directed to investigate Rebecca.
Donald Trumppreviously characterized the pair as ‘professional agitators,’ and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Good’s behavior as ‘domestic terrorism.’
In video that went viral on social media, showing the events before the shooting, Rebecca seemed to have difficulty opening the car door while telling her wife to “drive” as an ICE officer tried to persuade Good to leave the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the couple was at the demonstration to record events and serve as legal monitors, with the video capturing Rebecca challenging and provoking ICE officers just moments before they started shooting.


The attorney for Good stated to NBC News, “There has been no communication from the FBI or government officials suggesting that Becca Good is under investigation.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, whohas faced his own DOJ inquiry this week concerning his anti-ICE statements, has expressed disapproval of the federal government’s management of the inquiry into Good’s passing.
“The sole individual not under investigation for Renee Good’s shooting is the federal agent who fired the shot,” he stated.
Six federal prosecutors had previously stepped down following instructions from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota to investigate Rebecca Good.
Joe Thompson, the former acting U.S. Attorney for Minnesota and the primary figure in the Feeding Our Future food fraud case, was among the key individuals who submitted his resignation.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz commented on Thompson’s departure and the series of subsequent resignations.
“Joe is a dedicated public official who spent over ten years working to ensure justice for residents of Minnesota. This is a significant loss for our state,” he wrote on X.



It also marks the most recent indication that Trump is removing nonpartisan professional staff from the Department of Justice, substituting them with his admirers.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Harry Jacobs, Thomas Calhoun-Lopez, and Melinda Williams, along with others, took similar actions.
The Justice Department has also initiated an inquiry into Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.
Authorities claim the Democratic duo worked together to hinder federal agents with their public remarks.
The Attorney General, Pam Bondi, is said to have issued a memo in December, highlighting the Justice Department’s objective to combat ‘domestic terrorism’ through examinations of organizations that promote an ‘anti-fascist ideology.’
Bondi presented a list of laws that could be used to prosecute ‘culpable actors,’ such as obstructing federal officials, actions that Rebecca, Walz, and Frey are alleged to have committed.


Attacking, opposing, or hindering federal agents can result in a prison sentence of as long as 20 years if the crime involves a ‘deadly or hazardous weapon,’according to Cornell Law.
As the federal government prepares to examine Good’s wife, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated there is currently “no foundation” for an inquiry into Ross.
Individuals acquainted with the inquiry are said to have mentionedThe New York Times that the civil rights section of the Department of Justice, which usually looks into police-related shootings, has not initiated an investigation into whether Ross infringed upon Good’s rights under federal law.
The Times reported that Ross is “increasingly unlikely” to be charged with a crime.
