Members of the 6th Brigade from the Nigerian Army, part of Sector 3 in Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have prevented a kidnapping and robbery along the Wukari-Ikyior Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, freeing two individuals.

Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, stated in Jalingo on Saturday that the soldiers responded to an emergency call reporting that bandits had obstructed the road and were assaulting residents.

He mentioned that the soldiers arrived quickly at the location right after being notified. Upon reaching the scene, the suspects ran into the nearby bushes and left their victims behind.

Mohammed recognized the saved individuals as Mr. Terso Kerso, aged 48, and Mr. Udongu Terbo, 42, both hailing from the Ikyior community in Wukari Local Government Area.

He mentioned that the victims, who were not conscious during the rescue, were quickly taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari for immediate medical care.

As he stated, military personnel have increased their patrols and monitoring in the region to stop additional unlawful actions and provide comfort to locals and drivers regarding ongoing security efforts.

Honoring the soldiers for their quick action and expertise, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended their alertness and dedication to their responsibilities, highlighting that their prompt action averted potential loss of life.

He emphasized the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining active operations within its jurisdiction and called on citizens to keep supplying security forces with prompt and reliable information to assist in current security initiatives.
