February 14, 2026 (MISTERIYA) – Musa Hilal, the chief of the Mahameed tribe and head of the Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC), has alleged that Abdel Rahim Daglo, the deputy commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), is trying to disband the tribe by inciting internal conflict through the distribution of funds and arms.
The allegations come after an increase in conflict between Hilal, a tribal and military leader aligned with the Sudanese army, and the RSF. Tensions escalated following the January 1 killing of Hamid Ali Abu Bakr, a security advisor to the RSF commander, in a drone attack in the Al-Fardous area of East Darfur.
Key RSF individuals had earlier alleged that Hilal and his son, Fathi, were responsible for the assassination. Nevertheless, a mediation panel in North Darfur, consisting of 40 tribal and religious leaders, recently exonerated Hilal from any connection to the event.
Speaking to supporters in the North Darfur town of Misteriya, Hilal stated that Abdel Rahim Daglo was encouraging members of the Mahameed to turn against their own family members, aiming to disrupt the tribe’s harmony.
Hilal urged the RSF deputy commander to cease “operating from behind the scenes” and condemned the use of monetary rewards to incite assaults on Misteriya. He asserted that the tribe continued to function as a unified group despite attempts to divide it.
The head of the RAC also dismissed the RSF’s claims about the drone attack in Al-Fardous, noting that inquiries found no proof connecting his family to the incident.
Hilal stated that he had been directly threatened by RSF leadership, offering him a decision to either support their movement or risk his life. He rejected the RSF’s political agenda as “fascist” and “uninformed,” blaming the paramilitary organization for extensive theft and brutality.
In reference to the larger conflict in Sudan, Hilal characterized the war as a “plot devised by two generals.” He mentioned that his tribe was not involved in the fighting and would not become entangled in a conflict that did not benefit them.
Hilal declared a meeting scheduled for one month aimed at uniting the Mahameed and reinforcing the RAC as a political and military organization. He urged those who had joined the RSF to come back to their tribe.
Considering his previous imprisonment during the former administration, Hilal mentioned that he was freed following a mutual agreement of non-aggression with RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, also referred to as Hemedti, and his sibling Abdel Rahim.
Although Hilal confirmed his allegiance to the Sudanese Armed Forces, he promised not to launch attacks against the RSF. Nevertheless, he highlighted that his troops are completely ready to counter any aggression aimed at his bases in North Darfur.
