Actor Kim Yong-geon, who became a father when he was 75, shared that he often spends his everyday activities with his youngest son in public areas.
In the TV Chosun program *‘Chosun’s Love Experts’* aired on the 2nd, footage showed Kim Yong-geon looking after his 19-month-old grandson Woo-in-i with his daughter-in-law, actress Hwang Bo-ra.
While calling for Woo-in-i, Kim Yong-geon accidentally called out the name of his youngest son and said, “The little one’s name is Sion.” He added, “As he has grown a bit, I don’t closely monitor him anymore but instead follow him around. I just keep an eye on him to ensure he doesn’t go somewhere unsafe and follow him.”
Kim Yong-geon also recounted a story about recently going to a shopping mall with his youngest son, stating, “There were also fun rides there. Sion is now much older, so he does everything by himself. He knows what he wants to play with and what he doesn’t anymore.” Hwang Bo-ra responded, “That must be helpful,” to which Kim Yong-geon added, “Yes. Since he’s six years old, it’s somewhat easier.”
While watching, Choi Sung-kuk asked, “Do you also visit places where people might recognize you?” Hwang Bo-ra replied, “For the baby, time can’t be regained, so we want to make memories with the father.” She added, “When he calls out, ‘Dad,’ everyone looks. Still, it was touching to see him spend time with the child without caring about others.” She continued, “At first, it was a little awkward to ask about Sion with the father, but once he started talking about it, things became easier,” and noted that they now exchange many stories about Sion as parents.
In 2021, Kim Yong-geon became a father at the age of 75 while in a relationship with a woman 39 years younger. Initially, he was not supportive of the pregnancy and the birth, but later made peace with his partner, officially registered the child as his own in the family records, and has been involved in raising the child ever since.
