A man has faced legal charges following an alleged incident where he kicked a dog in the head during an unprovoked attack in a parking lot near Bunnings.
Hayden Palkovics was shopping at an Adelaide hardware store when a man is said to have kicked his dog twice while the animal was seated in the back of his ute on Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Palkovics went back to his utility vehicle and mentioned that his rescue dog had slight injuries.
‘I now realize why my dog was jumpy when we arrived home and she has a sore eye now,’ he said7News.
Mr. Palkovics is unfamiliar with the individual and referred to him as a ‘low-life stranger’.
The 48-year-old individual was taken into custody by South Australia Police at a residence in Smithfield on Monday.
He was accused of mistreating an animal and is scheduled to appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on April 14.
A dashcam video captured by a nearby driver showed the man kicking the dog in the face while walking past the ute.

“Kick it once more and I’ll kick you in the… head,” someone can be heard shouting at him.
A witness stated that the event was not only entirely preventable, but also disturbing to observe.
“He wasn’t required to walk alongside the vehicle, he had the option to go around it,” they remarked.
The dog merely barked at him, something any dog might possibly do, so there were methods to bypass it.
A representative from Bunnings stated that the safety and health of customers, their animals, and “our staff” is their highest concern.
“Any behavior that endangers individuals or animals is not tolerated and should not occur within or near our stores,” he stated.
We request that anyone possessing details about this event get in touch with the South Australia Police.
If requested, we will collaborate with authorities regarding their investigation.
Australians online were shocked to see the video of the assault.
“I hope the poor little creature is fine and hasn’t been too badly affected,” one person said.
“I wish they locate him,” another person remarked.
