Previous People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon responded to Chun Jae-soo, the Democratic Party of Korea’s candidate for mayor of Busan, who accused Han of betraying former President Yoon Suk-yeol, by asking, “Would you not prevent President Lee Jae Myung if he announces martial law?”

Han, on the 13th through his Facebook, said, “Candidate Chun stated today, ‘Han Dong-hoon betrayed former President Yoon by blocking his martial law,’” and noted, “The Democratic Party includes pro-martial law ‘Yoon Again’ elements such as Chun.”

Han continued, “According to Chun’s criteria, President Lee Jae Myung provided him with significant benefits, including appointing him as a minister, giving him a seat in the National Assembly, and even a mayoral nomination. If President Lee were to declare martial law, wouldn’t Chun, like me, oppose it?”

Concerning the stalled passage of the Busan Special Development Act in the National Assembly, Han asked, “Is Candidate Chun Jae-soo remaining quiet about the Busan Special Act due to fear of being accused of betraying Lee Jae Myung?”

He further insisted, “Cease avoiding the topic and confirm if you obtained a Cartier watch from the Unification Church. If you falsely claim you did not, you will ultimately encounter disqualification from the election.”

In August 2018, Candidate Chun was charged with accepting a Cartier watch and between 20 million to 30 million South Korean won in cash from the Unification Church. Nevertheless, a collaborative police-prosecution team examining ties between business and politics chose on the 10th not to bring charges, stating that the time limits for prosecuting bribery and violations of political financing laws had passed.

In the meantime, Chun appeared on KBS Radio’s *Jeon-gyeok Sisa* earlier that day, suggesting a potential candidacy in the Busan Buk-gu Gap district, while condemning Han. He remarked, “Former President Yoon Suk-yeol had a conflict with Han Dong-hoon, who ultimately turned against him. Although Han was the leader of the People Power Party, he was eventually expelled. Someone who consistently stirs up disputes and conflicts like him will find it difficult to earn the trust of residents in Buk-gu Gap.”
